This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students have access to 4 iPads for two classes of 18 each. They love working on them and it has improved their grades, we need more so more students can have access to them!
My school has a lot of at risk students.
Many of them come from troubled homes. I find that my students have the drive to strive even in difficult situations. The majority only have access to technology during school time. Please help my students to be successful!
My Project
We use two different computer programs in our grade level, Reasoning Mind and IXL. We have limited access to a computer lab one day of the week, only for Reasoning Mind. We are required to fulfill 2 hours. We would use the iPads to achieve mastery in these programs. IXL is an excellent program that helps students practice math by skill. If more students can access to this kind of technology on a regular basis, their chances of having an education comparable to those students with means will be greater.
iPads will also be used for small group interventions. There are a lot of Math and Science applications that can be downloaded to help my struggling students understand abstract concepts. Just by guiding them during these interventions will make a huge difference in their learning. This way they can visualize concepts and not fall behind. My high achieving students will benefit from having more technology in the classroom, and will keep a rigorous and challenging experience for them.
My students will improve their performance not only on local tests, but on state-wide standarized tests, thus improving our scores as a school, and as an urban district.
