My Students

My students are the greatest! The supplies that we are asking for: composition notebooks, color ink pens, and post-it notes will greatly help us reach our goals. 98% of the students qualify for free lunch and their families would appreciate the help.

My students are hard workers and very dedicated inspire of their surrounding.

We work hard to meet high expectations. We are a Title 1 school in a large metro school district. Each year we make measurable gains school wide. Our goal this fall is to make at least a 10% increase on our state tests in math and writing. We want to increase higher level thinking skills and be able to apply them in math. We want to be able to expand our writing through increased vocabulary and grammatical skills.

My Project

Our Project: Interactive notebooks. We will incorporate skills from the author Dinah Zike. She uses several strategies that help students increase notetaking and organizing complicated information into usable parts. We will color code information with our new ink pens and use the color post-it notes for information we want to stand out and that is important to remember. This information will be housed in our notebooks and composition books for easy access.

This project is important because we see the need for improvement and we want to do something about it.

We want to create an atmosphere of academic excellence and show how we plan to make it happen. These supplies will help students who lack supplies and resources to help increase learning goals.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
