Have you ever tried to pay attention to something, anything, when there are 25 or more individuals in a room with you? Add in trying to learn something while others are in the room also trying to listen to what is happening on their screens. It is impossible to listen intently without headphones in.
Our campus is made up an extremely diverse population.
This sets up for a wonderful opportunity to experience a variety of cultures and ideas. Providing individualized learning opportunities for our students, such as those who come from military families, are recent immigrants, are English Language Learners, are special education students, or even members of our AVID and gifted and talented programs, is difficult. It is made even more challenging when the students don't have or forget to bring their headphones to class to listen to their individual lesson without disturbing others.
My Project
Individualized and differentiated lessons are difficult to accomplish among a large group of students. I have been able to find a way to allow the students to progress at their own pace and at their own levels. However, the competing lessons are prohibiting the students from fully being able to concentrate on their own lessons. Being able to readily provide headphones for the students will allow every student in the room to be able to concentrate on the individual lesson in front of them and not be distracted by the teaching around them.
What is stopping the students from being able to give their full attention to the lesson in from of them?
Can you believe, the lessons being taught around them. My students need the headphones to be able to concentrate on the most important words in the room for them, their individual lesson. Please help me give them these small things with a big impact!
