Our students are very tech-savvy and are used to using technology in their everyday lives. Although, our school provides the students with the materials they need to learn, first graders do not get many opportunities to use technology to expand what they know and explore new things!
My class is a first grade class with 18 students.
While all students are different they all share a love for technology. These students have varying strengths and needs and they all learn in their own ways. In our class. I tailor and modify instruction so ALL students have the potential to be successful!
My Project
Every day, the students work in literacy centers. While the teacher pulls a small group for guided reading instruction, the rest of the students are working independently in different literacy centers such as read to self, read to someone, word work, writing, and listen to reading. The iPads would allow our students to listen to stories on Raz Kids and other educational reading apps provided through our school district. They can also use the iPads during math centers to play the games provided from our math program, Everyday Math. These technology tools will not only spark an interest in the students, but also provide them the opportunities to practice skills and concepts taught in the classroom each day.
