My students are working harder and harder each day to learn as much as they can during this school year. As a teacher, technology has impacted me in the all areas of my life in one way or another. Therefore, technology is an area that I want my students to flourish in as well.
My students are eager and enthusiastic learners.
They love having fun while learning. They are focused and engaged when we have time with technology, but we have limited resources with one computer to use in the classroom daily. Our school is very diverse and has a high poverty rate. Many of our students do not routinely have access to technology at home. These iPads will make a real difference for many students year after year.
My Project
My request is for eight iPads and protective covers to be used in the classroom to make sure every student gets enough time with technology both individually and in small groups. There are many applications that the students will use for further individual learning. For example, Raz-Kids is a differentiated reading app that students work at their own level of skills. We also can explore computing literacy with early elementary coding apps like ScratchJr. Four of the requested iPad covers are sturdier and the other four are easily removable so that we can use the iPads with an Osmo dock, letting students interact with physical objects with the Osmo educational apps. With the abundance of free apps, the possibilities are endless.
iPads are ideal technology tools for early learners.
They make technology accessible and are developmentally appropriate for younger children. With a swipe or a touch of their finger, my students will be able to interact with technology and digital resources in a way that was just not possible before.
