My students are captivated by technology, but lack the use of it every single day. Today in education we ask for so much from our students, yet it isn't always engaging. I have found that allowing some screen time during the day through the use of iPads has increased the success of students.
I have 18 bright-eyed, loving kindergartners.
They are so eager to learn each and every day. My school is said to be built on the belief of using new technology. I want to be able to be able to let my students have access to technology so they are able to practice certain skills in a way that they thoroughly enjoy!
My Project
These three iPads will be put to use on a daily basis. In the mornings I will use them for our workboard or stations to allow the students to practice sight words, number sense, or spelling. During our intervention block, I will utilize certain apps to help a group of students practice skills to meet proficiency. Finally, during writing I will allow students to create their own books using book creator apps on the iPad. Learning does not have to be practicing on paper only! It can be fun!
Donations to this project will help improve the success of all the students in my classroom.
There is an incredible number if educational apps for students that are waiting to be used. I feel that if the technology is there, we need to take advantage of it to ensure our students are being fully engaged in their learning as well as being successful!
