A popular story with children is, If You Give a Mouse a Cookie, by Laura Numeroff. In a parallel journey this teacher could easily take you on an adventure that would explain what would happen If you gave a teacher an iPad. I know as a teacher, I would utilize it daily with my students!
I am currently a 2nd grade teacher and have been for many years.
I also taught Special Ed during my 1st years at this particular school. I teach at a Pre K-5th grade school in which parental support is a huge factor. Our school has more than 500 students at this time. My students are eager to learn and I truly enjoy having each one in my classroom.
My Project
In keeping with the book theme from If You Give a Mouse a Cookie, a variation title I would use for donors would be, If you gave a teacher an iPad! As a longtime educator with a focus on SPED and struggling students, I know the importance of individual student needs. With the use of a class iPad, I would use it with students in independent learning centers to lessen gaps in reading and math. In conjunction to this, our school has a school iPad Website to assist our school community with apps at home. I would utilize free apps on that site to help reduce learning gaps with my students. My 2nd goal would be to use it in whole class activities, connected to our projector and interactive white board with an Apple Dock VGA adapter.
If you give this teacher an iPad, you could offer my students and I a chance to have a classroom tablet that would benefit each student.
It would bring forth productive center and whole class technology lessons that would enhance the learning environment in our classroom. Please consider in helping our 2nd grade class receive our own iPad!
