My students need the popular, best selling items such as the Ove Glove, Bacon bowl and Nutribullets. These items will serve as the products the students will sale.
Being a smart Consumer. That is one of my goals for my students. I want to teach them about being smart with their money. America is in debt and this generation needs to armed with the tools necessary to fight back. This includes not falling for advertising ploys, such as the ones on infomercials.
My students are 6th, 7th, and 8th graders, both male and female.
They are teenagers on the verge of independence. They come from a diverse background but all require the skills necessary to survive in today's world. They are a great group of kids that are very respectful and energetic.
My Project
My students need the popular, best selling items such as the Ove Glove, Bacon bowl and Nutribullets. These items will serve as the products the students will sale to their classmates. The students will create skits/commercials for their product in attempts to get the audience (the rest of the class) to buy their product. Each audience member will receive a set amount of money. They will be participating as well, because they will have to think about which product they want and if its worth spending their money. The product (group) that sales the most, wins! We will discuss money, advertising, products, needs vs wants, and being a smart consumer.
This project will allow us to complete a unit in consumerism that will help the students learn about many skills needed for their future.
Money and debt are huge issues in today's society. This generation can be different if we teach them the skills they need to avoid the financial turmoil the country is in now.
