My Students

Students become actively engaged when working on computers. This year we have several laptops which allow students to work at their desks. All that is missing are headphones. Headphones will allow students to enjoy all the excitement of educational technology.

My students are fourth graders - and 21st Century learners.

They enjoy being a part of an online social network such as Edmoto (supervised by the teacher). They also enjoy playing competitive games (such as Sumdog) over the Internet. My students are black, Hispanic and white. Many are living in poverty. When technology is available in the classroom, it levels the playing field so that even those without internet at home can participate and learn.

My Project

The most exciting part of equipping the laptops with headphones is that the educational technology (such as Read About) will meet students at their level. It will provide opportunities for everyone to excel as they become grade level readers (and beyond). When students consistently spend time on the reading program, they show significant gains in reading comprehension and vocabulary.

This project is important because the headphones will fully equip our classroom for educational technology.

As many as eight students per class can work on research and projects together while other students are in small groups doing other activities. My 21st century students want to use the Internet to innovate, communicate, and demonstrate their knowledge. They can hear clearly and fully participate online - with your donation of two sets of headphones! Thanks!
