My students need a LCD TV to be able to monitor and view their daily LIVE HPTV broadcast.

My Students

Lights - camera - action!!! Each and every day the Media Class anchors at our school bring life to the daily announcements. Without a TV to monitor and view the broadcast progress, things are impossible to keep 'on track'.

This class is comprised of 7th and 8th grade students and is one of the electives offered.

They create, direct, and produce a daily bulletin (news program) to present the current school "happenings". The show is completely set up, run, and disassembled each day by the students. Guests from throughout the campus are allowed to present their information, as well as segment specials from students and teachers alike. HPTV is one of the platforms for our character education program, presenting information from many sources including the counseling department, the principal, and our own Characters with Character. HPTV is integral to the functioning of the school as it is the main platform for students to find out what is going on in their school.

My Project

This TV will allow the student producers, anchors, and varied guests to see what is going on during the live broadcast. This is particularly important to the producer who puts together the schedule for the broadcast day and it allows the anchors and guests to have a vision of what is being broadcast. The HPTV broadcast is no different than any morning news report in that there is always a high level of activity and responsibility in getting the news out to the viewing public. By having this TV the students will be able to mores easily have a top-notch broadcast - it is a resource that the real-world anchors rely on and would make the HPTV broadcast become closer to the goal of being a 'real-world' environment. The visual feedback provided by this TV will allow the students to run a smooth and orderly operation.

It is my opinion that the Media Class allows students to develop creativity, and understand the importance, impact, and responsibility of the news industry.

This class develops, among other things, teamwork, responsibility, respect for others, a sense of pride of ownership for a job well-done, and interest in their school environment. As we build the program it is important to provide the tools that allow students to do the best job possible; this TV will take us one step closer to that goal.
