Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

It is important that I am able to teach my students how to use technology.
Our school is located in Austin, Texas.
Ninety-eight percent of the school is below the poverty level. My students are part of the Bilingual Life Skills Unit. They are eight amazing and hardworking students in first through fifth grades. My students' disabilities range from Autism, Intellectual Disability, to various other health impairments. We are avid participants in Special Olympics and Community Based Instruction.
My Project
It is important that I continue my knowledge on how to use various modes of technology including the iPad that I am requesting. By knowing how to use technology myself, I will be able to teach my students how to use and understand technology and the role it plays in society. That is the function of the book: "Teaching with the Tools Kids Really Use". The book has great information on how to use technology as a learning tool. The iPad will be used as an applicable tool to teach my students what I learn with the professional development book. I will be able to teach them how to use social media and virtual worlds for their academic benefit. We could take virtual field trips, use QR codes, or augmented reality with the iPad. It can be used during centers, student led instruction, and teacher based instruction.
There was once a time where being literate was being able to write your name.
People believe that it means being able to read and write. However, in today's society being literate includes being able to use various modes of technology. This request for a professional development book will help me teach my students how to use technology, such as the iPad Air.
