How High Can You Jump?

My students need gymnastic mats for several different games we play at school. We also have a track and field unit where students get to practice the high jump.

My Students

My students love adventure and trying out new games. I strive to give my students new fitness opportunities that may catch their attentions. My program is designed for students to obtain lifelong fitness skills and to have fun in the process.

I have a very diverse population that ranges from homeless students to middle class.

50% or more of my students are on free and reduced lunches. My students are wonderful, caring, and giving students. They are hard workers who like to help others succeed. In my PE class I very rarely have students sitting out. Everyone participates, feels like they belong, and are safe.

My Project

These gymnastic mats will give my students a chance to experience the high jump in the track and field unit. The landing mat alone is more than my entire budget for the year. If I don't have the mat, I won't be able to give our students this exciting experience. Many students excel in the track and field unit, and it gives them an opportunity to explore to see if they can move onto high school and join the track and field team.

By donating to this wonderful project it will help students explore a new and exciting activity that they may never get a chance to experience.

The high jump is an event that many students may be able to do in high school if given the opportunity. That is what my job, as a educator, is to accomplish, giving students the freedom to explore new activities in a safe, healthy environment.
