My Students

We love our vegetable garden, but Old Man Winter does not! A greenhouse would allow us to grow veggies all year long!

We are a Kindergarten class from a small, rural town in Texas.

Our class has 22 students, and lessons had better be engaging because it is not easy keeping each child's attention! Many of our students don't get to experience any extra activities outside of the classroom. Our student population is 46% economically disadvantaged.

My Project

The greenhouse will allow the students to be able to participate in our outdoor learning area all year long. We go out daily to observe the progress of our vegetable garden and to feed, water, and collect eggs from our chickens. The greenhouse will give us a fresh supply of vegetables without the fear of frost killing all of our hard work.

Students learn by seeing and doing.

I am a firm believer that interactive learning transfers real life situations into lifetime learning. Students don't remember what worksheet they did last week, but I guarantee you they won't forget the amazing experiences of picking vegetables at their school!
