My Students

Do you remember how proud you felt the first time you mastered a skill that required balance?

As a Specially Designed Physical Education Teacher it is my responsibility to help students improve and gain new gross motor skills.

I service over 50 students ages 3-21 with a wide variety skills and abilities. Many of my students come from low income households and do not access to equipment that would benefit them such as scooters or bicycles. Some of my students have orthopedic impairments and muscular diseases. Having access to equipment like this will help with the development and refinement of their balance.

My Project

I will use this equipment to help students improve their gross motor skills and develop confidence. Once my students have learned how to use the equipment I will help them apply their new skills in the community so they can safely travel on the sidewalks and successfully cross the street following the rules of the road. Learning skills to like this will help ensure their safety and promote independence in the future.

I can already visualize the looks on my students faces when they walk into my room and see the new equipment.

Their determination to learn a skill so they can participate in an activity like their peers while developing and refining an essential motor skill. Thank you for your consideration in supporting this project.
