My students need Hokki stools to help them focus better in the classroom. These stools will allow my very active and busy students keep moving while still in a chair.
Hello! I am a first year kindergarten teacher and absolutely love my job. I've noticed I have some very busy kindergarteners who need to be moving at all times. I feel that allowing them to keep moving while still sitting and working will allow them to truly reach their full potential this school year.
I have 17 wonderful kindergartners in my class.
I can't express how eager they are to please me and how loving they are when they hug me throughout the day. They are all so eager to learn and are excited about each thing I present them with. My school is very diverse and we have a large population of poverty in our district. My students like any group of people are all very different and bring something different to the table. I have very passionate students who try very hard, but they are just to active to focus their attention for more than a few minutes.
My Project
In my classroom we have small blue chairs that are fit for the stature of a kindergarten students. Yes, these are suitable for some students, but do no fit the needs of all my students due to the fact that they are all different. I have students who struggle with sitting in their seat and completing a math task for just a few minutes because they crave some sort of movement. This is detrimental to their school success. I find them not paying attention to the task at hand. While the rest of the class is learning how to make groups of two and three with tiles, my busy students are wiggling in their seat mixing all of their pieces up or ripping their plastic bag. Having these seats will allow these students to have that movement they need so much throughout the day while allowing them to learn with the class and understand concepts entirely.
This will ultimately change my life as well as my students'.
They will be able to have a fair chance at learning despite their cravings for movement. This will allow me to teach for effectively in the classroom. I will be able to attend to all of my students and not have to focus my attention all on certain students to make sure they are staying in their seat or following the last few steps in the directions given. I can not express enough how this will change our lives in the classroom.
