My students need three iPads to work on sports analytics projects to collect data with our sports teams, in addition to three rubber cases to protect their iPads.
Our students have been working to make connections between sports and data analysis. Sports Analytics is an up and coming industry that takes many of the STEAM-centered problem-solving needs and has our students tackle those problems using statistical analysis and technology.
Our student organization is located in a low-income district.
Our students are engaged, lively learners who, through these projects and experiences with sports data and organizations, would like to explore opportunities in college and careers to tackle statistics, data, and analytics.
My Project
Our students will use the iPad Minis to gather information, data and video to run simulations, calculate with various software packages, and present their findings to coaching staffs, team and player personnel for a variety of high school, college, and professional sports teams.
Our students are willing to put in the time and effort that it takes to build their resumes with problem-based learning experiences both inside and outside of the classroom walls.
This technology and these experiences will prepare for the next stages in their academic development.
