Help Us Turn On the Lights! We're Going Spelunking.

My students need 20 headlamp flashlights. We take an annual caving trip where students are allowed to free spelunk throughout an entire cave.

My Students

Have you ever gone to a cave and done the typical cave tour? "Here is the parrot stone to your right. Now if you look left... " My students have the opportunity to actually climb throughout the cave. Headlamp flashlights would make this all the easier.

My group of eighth graders is a delightful bunch from Wisconsin.

They attend an urban middle school with a wide variety of ethnicities and abilities. Overall, this group of students loves to learn and be challenged. Because of all of these attributes, I want to provide all that I can for the optimal learning experience! All eighth graders have taken the field trip for years and with advances in technology, having a true head lamp on your helmet makes caving even easier!

My Project

Students have access to climb all over throughout the cave. As they free climb and explore the nooks and crannies of a cave, what students really need is their hands. As they look for different pathways to explore, the one need students find most helpful is their hands. This is an annual trip we have taken for over 15 years. As we make this trip better, students comment that what they could improve is having a head lamp. Although many students can purchase these flashlight options, we would love to provide an equal opportunity to all.

Students who may not have the means to purchase a head lamp could be the same students that may not have the same opportunity to freely explore a cave again.

Please help us explore caving in a whole new light. With our hands free, we are able to explore more than ever than before. How exciting is it for a middle schooler to not only experience, but truly engage with their environment. So help us explore the deepest parts of our world in our own back yard.
