Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
A typical day in my classroom involves fun with hands-on learning. This keeps the students engaged and thirsting for new knowledge everyday.
My students come from a title one school, which means there is a high poverty rate.
Most students come to school hungry and looking for structure. Even though they have struggles and obstacles they need to overcome, they come to school excited, with a smile on their face. Their brains anxiously soak up the new knowledge given to them everyday.
My Project
Our school has recently removed the playground equipment leaving the students with nothing to do but stand around and talk at recess. Recess is an important aspect of the school day. This is where they practice their social skills and get a break from classwork. Most of these students do not have access to footballs, basketballs, and jump ropes because they cannot afford these items. I would like to be able to get them equipment to use at recess like: jump ropes, a hopscotch pad, sidewalk chalk and various balls. These items will help them get in their daily physical activity, which promotes a healthy lifestyle as well as teach them how to work cooperatively by playing a game of basketball or soccer.
Your donations will encourage my students to be active, healthy, and creative.
When students have a mental and physical break from classwork, they come back refreshed and ready to learn.
