My Students

By 5th grade many children already hate the thought of reading a book that their teacher hands them. I am here to change that! As a grade we need incredible books to keep these amazing students reading and loving books as much as I do. Help me make that dream a reality.

It is hard to describe the incredible kids I get to be with every day.

Whether they woke up and ate a buffet breakfast or come to school wondering what we can give them because their last meal was the lunch they had before, they bring the most joy to our school. I live for these kids and I live for the passion they bring to books they love. Yet loving books come with a price. Often favorite books disappear simply because a book is loved so much, sometimes food or drink destroy it because they couldn't help themselves. Sometimes a book is passed around so many times that the cover tears and the pages fall out. Sometimes a kid goes through my library and comes up empty-handed. I am trying to appeal to all of my students with a mix of classics, graphic novels, series, and picture books. Anything that can turn a child from hating reading to loving it with the same urgency that I do. Please help me make this dream come true, not just for my classroom but for all of the 5th grade.

My Project

I am trying to enrich my library making sure that every child, whether from my room or not, finds a book in my library. And although I have spent a lot of money myself trying to bring in the most enticing books, there are never enough books. There are always children that look at me, ready to give up, that just didn't find the book they were hoping for. These books are the ones my students and other teachers have told me they love. They are the ones that will keep children reading and make them want to pick up one book after another.

This donation is a way to give back to students who want to read but just don't have the access to all of the right books.

It is a way to not just reach my kids but all of the school as anyone is welcome to borrow my books. I know supplying the best books to my students is the most powerful way to get them to read. Help me not have to pay for it out of my own pocket again.
