My students need 2 Base 10 classroom sets and 5 Giant Magnetic Base 10 sets to learn place value and other number sense skills using a hands-on approach.

"You don't teach a child to brush their teeth when they are 18." Which means that learning needs to take place early and when they are young. Students need an opportunity to learn about money and number sense early.
This is my first year at a model school that incorporates performing and visual arts.
Our urban school provides federal programs like free and reduced lunch and Title 1 to economically disadvantaged boys and girls. We are a class of several military families. My students are energetic and very busy within the classroom. Even with parental support, I would love to say that my students have everything that they need to be successful. But they don't. I am preparing all of them for college and the world beyond, so they can have a better life.
I want to enhance instruction in my new classroom by creating learning stations with manipulatives. We need 2 Base 10 sets and 5 Giant Magnetic Base 10 sets because we don't have any of these materials in our classroom. These Base 10 sets will allow my students to master number sense skills and objectives using a hands-on approach which is a proven learning strategy. These materials will help to re-build a classroom that was empty at the start of this school year. The materials will also help to create a self-driven, community of learners who can assist each other to learn. My kids will develop a positive attitude plus learn to communicate and collaborate with their peers.
Supporting this project will boost my students' learning of math concepts and improve their math skills.
They will be able to put their hands on the materials and construct their own learning experiences. Will you give them that chance and support our project?
