School is changing and the day in the classroom has drastically changed. Instruction and notes are moving outside the classroom. Now students can make more choices on how they learn best, and use the tools to prepare them for college and career. Headphones will help them work at their own pace
The majority of our students are at risk, students living in low income or low middle class homes.
They are wonderful and curious but have so many distractions around them and at home that they are easily swayed away from the importance of education. We as teachers are doing our best to change and become the new type of classroom that students crave and further more, what they deserve. No matter how challenging they are with there academics or personalities, they all deserve a chance and nothing but our best efforts to see them succeed in life.
My Project
Our school is going 1:1 with chrome books next year so our classrooms can begin experimenting with the flipped classroom setup. However we will not receive all the practical tools that students will need. That is why I am asking for help with the headphone sets, Students will have more choices in how they learn, and they will have no excuse for not completing assignments. Students will be able to move and learn at the pace best for them while high fliers will be able to move ahead and work on more challenging material. All of this in the same classroom at the same time with the headphone set so that the videos and interactive web tools they choose don't distract one another.
For so long students have been frustrated having to wait on those that work slower than them.
While students that need more time, become timid, and hide in the classroom, because they fear being thought of as slow or dumb. Its no longer acceptable to teach who you can reach and move on, with the help of technology and its associated tools, we can let students work at their own pace have more choices in how their education is presented and learn. Headphones will help us in this endeavor.
