This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
"We need technology in every classroom and in every student and teacher's hand, because it is the pen and paper of our time, and it is the lens through which we experience much of our world." -David Warlick
I teach fourth grade at an inner city elementary school in Virginia.
The school serves a population of students who are very much in need of technology. It is considered a Title I school, with 99% of students receiving free and reduced priced lunch. The students are very eager to learn but will struggle in today's learning arena without appropriate technology in the classroom.
My Project
Currently, my classroom is not equipped with any modern technology. Using a document camera and digital projector will allow me to create much more engaging and motivating activities and projects that will inspire and spark imagination in my students.
The document camera will enable me to enlarge 2-D and 3-D objects, demonstrations, and directions. The digital projector will then allow me to display these for my students on an open wall or screen.
These items will enable me to do more "showing" in my lessons rather than "telling", which will allow my students to learn in a much deeper way.
Donations and support of this project would make an amazing difference in the lives of my students this year and countless students in the future.
Many of them do not have technology where they live and their only opportunity to gain access to this crucial equipment is at school.
I am doing my best to provide them with all that I can but I need the help of those like you who are passionate about education and care about making a difference for those in need. Thank you for your time!
