My quote for the year is 'Let Howe Schools Show You HOWE It's Done'. I want my students to be proud of themselves and learn how to do things well. Learning to create a small business from the ground up will be a life changing experience.
As I enter my classroom, I see the majority of my students from poverty levels.
According to the local Department of Human Services, we are located in the poorest county in the state of Oklahoma. Many of my students reflect coming from such a low income area. I have the privilege of teaching theses students classes that are computer technology oriented. My students love working with computers and I am constantly looking for projects that can help them develop skills in technology.
My Project
A project that is being started within my classroom in a school store. The store will be used in a way for students to create products and sell them within the store. Students will be learning how to determine markets for their products, how to price each item, how to effectively present the merchandise for sell, customer assistance, exchange of money, and basic bookkeeping skills. I am excited about my students learning to create and design t-shirts within my Multimedia course. To display the t-shirts, the store is needing shelving. Therefore, I am requesting waterfall shelving as a tiered shelving for the store.
A donation for this project will help my students more effectively display their items they have personally created for the store.
By students learning hands-on experiences with the store project, each student will be learning valuable skills that can be carried on after the high school level. If a student can relate each lesson to a real world experience, that lesson becomes a life changing experience.
