Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
The students in my room are enthusiastic, thoughtful, and extremely hard working. Students are always eager to learn and I do my best to give the students the resources they need to succeed in the 21st century. The use of technology in our classroom is non-negotiable.
I work in a public environment that is culturally diverse and inclusive.
Our school is quite large, with over 730 students who attend. With that being said, our students are members of a diverse, highly populated urban community. Over half of the schools population are English Language Learners (speaks a language other than English at home.) Thankfully, our school gives teachers the independence to teach our students in ways that will work best for them. Integrating technology into the classroom can transform a lesson. Adding technology to classrooms is not optional; it's a must if students are going to be well-equipped for the future.
My Project
Not that long ago, the idea of every student having access to a computer in the classroom seemed like a fantasy. Thousand's of schools today provide students with a digital device. As more schools move toward this one-to-one environment, teachers must respond and and take on the challenge of technology integration. Through Chromebooks, students will be able to access Google Classroom. Google Classroom is an online platform that allows teachers to streamline the process of going digital with their students. Student's reap the benefits of real-time collaboration and commenting. Teachers can share assignments, documents, and resources with students in an environment that lends itself to collaboration and creativity.
WHY Google Classroom Chromebooks?
Paperless, classroom collaboration, Student Produced Quizzes, immediate feedback, immediate assessment of struggling students, voice note extension (Change text into any language. Particularly helpful for ELL students which make up the majority of our school's population.) Combining technology with a strong student-centered pedagogy and effective instructional strategies, students will be more engaged in and excited about the learning process.
