My Students

Did you grow up in a home where your family read to you every night? Some students do not get that exposure, unfortunately, and I would like to give them that opportunity!

My kiddos are a second grade bunch from a rural school in Kentucky.

They are the most diverse group of learners I have ever had. I have a huge range of learning in the room and a wide variety of specific learners, such as visual learners versus paper/pencil learners.

My Project

My classroom runs on small groups all day! Reading and math involves small groups and partner work. For our Reading block, we use Daily 5 Reading, which allows students to Read to Self, Read to Someone, Work on Writing, Word Work, and Listen to Reading. However, we do not have the materials for our Listen to Reading kit! We borrowed our first grade friends' listening center last week to learn how to use the books and CD's at the same time, but now we don't have anything! Hearing reading is incredibly important for students because of the fluency and expression they hear in reader's voices. This is such an important part of reading and I really don't want my children to miss out on such a wonderful opportunity!

Please help my class with this literacy portion of my second grade class.

The kids LOVE to hear books on CD and I am longing for that literacy opportunity for them! Help me make some strong readers!
