My Students

Do you know what it is like to not have any self-control? All of my students are in a Middle School Alternative Program because of poor behavior. As we work to improve behavior, self-control is a huge issue. By introducing these students to yoga, we know that they will have a better chance to succeed

I work with students who are enrolled in an Alternative School because of behavior issues.

We work with techniques to help students overcome anger issues and other problems that have led them to us. By incorporating yoga techniques, we feel that we can help these students to be successful as they strive to return to their regular school. Every one of our students would be considered at-risk and are seeking to find themselves. By adding yoga we feel that we can address ADHD issues, help them restore focus, improve self-control, and reduce anger issues. Most of our students are in the lower socio-economic class and they do not have strong family support systems. It is imperative that we help them find themselves and improve their self-confidence and reduce the anger issues so they can become productive members of society.

My Project

My students need 20 yoga mats as we work to reduce anger issues and to restore focus and enhance self-control for at-risk students in an alternative setting. Have you ever been completely alone and felt the whole world was against you? Imagine being 11-14 years old and having that feeling. My students need your help. We plan to use yoga techniques to help these students gain self-control and reduce their anger issues. These students are the ones that society has said, "You don't fit in." They feel like they have no support systems in place and they are fighting a losing battle. By incorporating yoga, we feel that we can help them to improve their focus, improve their fitness, and reduce their anger issues.

These students do not feel like anyone is on their side. They feel that their future lies in gang activity or prison. Most of them are looking forward to the day they are old enough to drop out of school. Instead of failures, help us turn them into success stories.
