Engaging, interactive learning in a portable package!
My first-grade students would greatly benefit from a duo of iPad Mini tablets for our classroom. Can you help to make this technology dream come true?
First and foremost, my students are amazing.
Inquisitive, precocious, and eager to learn. Our school is located in Ohio and is considered to be a part of Appalachia. Our school is designated high-poverty with 90% of our students receiving free or reduced lunch.
While our school's population faces significant challenges, we, as a school, strive to provide our students with a safe and engaging place to learn and "spread their wings". Our school is the smallest in our district with less than 300 students on average. We are a K-5 school with lots of "spunk"!
My Project
The addition of two iPad Mini tablets will provide my students with a vessel to "show what they know" while remaining engaged and attentive.
I will purchase applications for the tablets that will allow my students to practice math, language-arts, phonics, science, social studies, critical thinking, and cognitive reasoning. Not only will the tablets serve as an interactive tool for learning, but will also provide me with concrete evidence of the retention of skills.
There are so many wonderful apps for the early elementary classroom! The benefits of this technology will radiate to nearly every part of our daily routine. Even classroom management can be tracked and communicated with parents through applications like Class Dojo.
Providing this technology to my students will provide them with the opportunity to grow both academically and technologically with their counterparts in more tech-gifted schools and classrooms. It will help to "narrow the gap".
I fully believe that this technology will change my classroom in a wonderful way!
