My Students

Many of my students work hard and complete projects early. For these students, I reward them with a small craft and a chance to sit and relax at the craft center. The problem is, our craft center doesn't currently have any seating! Please, help us get some!

Nearly 75% of our students are on free or reduced price lunch, so you can imagine that they don't have many luxury items at home.

Even still, these students come to school excited, enthusiastic, and ready to learn. They are respectful of their peers, their teachers, and their administrators. And despite the "vintage" building, they love their school and they always help take care of the facilities provided to them.

My Project

My craft corner serves as an area for rewarding students that finish projects early. It currently has cubbies with various supplies, a table, and a rug but nowhere to sit, which is not very rewarding. With comfortable seating as a reward, students will be more motivated to complete their projects before the deadline so that they can sit back, relax, and craft away!

Many of our students' families can't afford to put food on their table on a daily basis so simple luxuries are obviously not an option.

My fellow teachers and I try as hard as we can to make our classrooms fun and comfortable but that usually comes with a pretty high price tag. Having these chairs at my craft corner will allow me to reward students that work hard, and finish projects early, with a comfortable space to make fun and easy crafts. Keeping these students occupied also helps to cut down on boredom, thus decreasing the amount of unnecessary talking and movement around the room. Please help me give my students all that they deserve!
