Frankie D Fixer was a handyman who could fix anything. Unfortunately, we may not be fortunate enough to have a granddad like Jason Mraz's grandfather who was so handy and could teach his grandchildren. Being handy is a skill that everyone can benefit from. So why not give our kids the opportunity?
Our kids are young, ambitious, and curious but there's darkness lurking about that's much too serious.
Pre-k is a time to explore and play, to imagine and create until the end of the day. But the trouble that's looming seems to be blooming. Academic rigor! Academic rigor! They're telling us to grow up much much quicker.
They want to prepare us to be college ready, we want to go to college but at a pace that's steady. Our parents can't help us of the troubles that's lurking,
it's not their fault! They're too busy working! It's up to you to help us keep our childhood we're about to lose, you wonderful people, the people of Donors Choose!
My Project
For most of my students, going to pre-k is the first school experience most of them may have. I want to provide them the best learning environment as possible. They are kids who don't experience much of what our wonderful world has to offer because their parents are out working and most are left to after school and grandparents to take care of them. I want to expose my students to wonderful new experience they may never experience and allow them to learn about things they may see everyday but never interact with. The tools and workbench I am requesting will allow my students to be exposed to what tools are and their uses. They will learn how to become handy and the purposes of tool in a safe manner.
Imagine leaving elementary school with the knowledge of how tools are used and what the purpose of each are.
Every person should know the basics of what a handy person knows to be able to fix everyday problems one may come across. This project will expose my students to things many children may not come across.
