Music is a vital part of every day life, and every student should have the opportunity to learn how to express themselves creatively through music without worrying if they can afford it.
I have a wonderful group of students who have a rich heritage in music.
Although they show promising potential and creativity, they don't always have the resources or money to obtain the tools needed to develop their talent. Many students have to keep steady part time jobs just to help pay family bills. They maintain good grades while balancing family responsibilities, leaving little time or money to spend on other opportunities.
My Project
Each package contains an acoustic guitar and all of the equipment needed for students to learn how to express themselves through music without prior knowledge of how to create music. It would enable the students to "check-out" a guitar for the year while they learn how to play some of their favorite songs as well as how to create their own. With the many problems and temptations they face, these guitars would offer an alternative to the destructive habits typical to our area, providing a healthy outlet for personal expression.
