My Students

I love math. I spend my entire year trying to convince my students that math doesn't have to be hard. In fact, with the proper tools and knowledge, it can be down right easy. I try to show them how using them together can make any math problem a conquerable task.

My students are amazing.

This is my first year to teach Algebra 2 and they are tackling the subject right along with me. They have done everything I have asked of them with gusto and trust. I would love to be able to show them how much easier it can be with the right technology.

My Project

With the calculators, I will have a "class set". This means that the calculators will be kept in my room and any student, not just my Algebra 2 kids, will be able to use them in my room. If a student wishes to take one home to work on homework, I will have them check it out, just like they would a library book. This is to keep the student accountable and hopefully keep the calculators from "disappearing" as things tend to do with teenagers.

I believe putting these calculators in the hands of my students will give them a much needed confidence boost.

Just like we could use a hammer and nails to build a house, it makes more sense to use a nail gun and more efficient tools. We could do the math without these calculators, but it makes more sense to use the best tools we can get.
