My Students

I teach a self-contained class of highly and profoundly gifted students. They are all working well above grade level and differentiating can be tricky! Using Google Apps, I am able to effectively instruct each of my unique students.

My students are all profoundly gifted learners who come from all over the Phoenix metro area to attend this special gifted program.

I teach at a public school in Arizona, but students must all test in and qualify for this unique learning experience. Generally, students enroll in the self-contained gifted program because they did not fit in in a traditional classroom, and the teacher was unable to meet their extremely accelerated pace. Unchallenged gifted learners often end up hating school and often become behavior problems. I love working with this group and watching them thrive.

My Project

I am requesting a Google Chromebook for my classroom. I teach in a Google Apps For Education district and each student has a GAFE account. If I had Chromebooks,I would be able to more effectively differentiate my instruction and meet the needs of my very accelerated, fast paced students. The cloud computing that Google apps and Chromebooks offer us means that my students would be able to pick up exactly where they left off at home, no matter what device they have at home.

Having consistent Internet access would dramatically change my classroom curriculum.

My students move fast and textbooks are outdated the moment they are printed. Chromebooks would allow me to effectively meet the needs of my incredibly advanced 21st Century students.
