Going Green and saying No to Plastic Bags!

My students need book pouches and colored copy paper to hold nightly reading books and logs.

I am a first grade teacher in a public school in NC. I am always looking for ideas to help my students be the best readers they can be. Every day is always a new adventure for sure!

I am requesting supplies for my students to use when they take home books to read each night. Reading is a skill they must practice daily. I always say, "Practice makes perfect!"

This project will not only improve my students' reading skills, but our environment too! In the past we used tons of plastic ziploc bags to hold their books and logs they take home daily. The ziploc bags would hold up a couple weeks and then it was time for a new one. Gosh, just to think of all the plastic bags we throw away each week makes me sick! Now if we get these pouches, we can use them all year long (and future years too)! Helping my students learn about ways they can help take care of our environment needs to begin early and this is a wonderful way for them to get on board!

If you would like to help my students become the best readers they can be and be active in taking care of our environment, maybe you would like to make a donation!
