Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students want to be hooked on books and reading with some Nooks. With a Nook, a child can be exposed to many more books than my classroom library can offer.
My fourth grade students are typical nine and ten year old children.
They enjoy anything electronic. While some come from low-income families, with little to no technology in the home, others come from middle class families and have an abundance of technology. Nooks would be a great way to foster both socio-economic groups and provide a fun way to read.
My Project
My classroom library is limited in space. With Nooks, my students could read from many genres and many different levels of reading. My students' reading levels range from first grade to high school. Nooks would be a way for me to meet the reading needs and interests of all of my students. The Nooks will also be an incentive and a reward for my students to turn in their assignments with accuracy and on time.
I am requesting 4 Nooks to enrich my students' lives and help them become lifelong readers and learners.
My students, who have only lived in a technological world, are hard-wired to seek electronic devices. Paper books do not always hold their attention, yet holding a Nook, would be a fun way to read a book.
