My students need a fun and engaging way to strengthen their math skills. I am asking for the games Sequence, Farkle, and Numeracy, as well as, a wireless buzzer system.
Research has shown that students who engage in games to learn, learn more and better than students who don't. It is this type of experience that I am trying to provide for my students.
My students are a group of highly motivated math learners.
They thoroughly enjoy experiencing math in new and engaging ways. As do most other people, they enjoy game play and having fun!
Our school is located in an urban area of Wisconsin with a very diverse population of students. Twenty percent of my students are English Language Learners and fifteen percent receive special education services. Almost forty percent of the students at my school are economically disadvantaged. As such, it is imperative that we provide these students with opportunities to have these experiences at school.
My Project
My students need a fun and engaging way to strengthen their math skills. I am asking for the games Sequence, Farkle, and Numeracy, as well as, a wireless buzzer system. The resources your funding will provide will give my students a break from the rigorous math classwork without completely removing them from math concepts. They will work together to be successful in their games while building relationships and still engaging in math.
These games are fun, engaging, and developmentally appropriate for my middle school students.
Too often, there is apprehension and anxiety for students in math.
There is a sense that they "can't do it" or that it's "not fun." It is my goal as a math teacher to battle this idea by creating a fun environment for my students in learning the content as well as knowing when to take a break from it.
