Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
"The essence of mathematics is not to make simple things complicated, but to make complicated things simple." ~S. Gudder. The goal in my classroom is to try and show students that math can be simple. My students love to learn and love to understand.
My third grade class is a fabulous group of kids!
They each bring their own unique personality to our classroom family, which makes it complete. They strive to please and try their hardest in everything they do. Our school is a very low income population with 100% of our students living in poverty. Although our school is low income, our students have great hearts! They want to learn and to be successful in life. It is my personal mission to help my students achieve this.
My Project
The materials that I am requesting will assist students during math instruction. It is proved that kids understand math better when given the opportunity to work with their hands. While teaching a lesson on fractions, I realized that they were having a hard time grasping the concept. Unfortunately, my classroom does not have any fraction manipulatives for the students to use. They will use these tools to help them better understand fractions and equivalent fractions, a concept that is often hard to understand.
The donations to this project will help my classroom by improving their understanding of fractions.
When a child does not understand what is being taught, they often shut down and stop paying attention. This can lead to behavior problems because they often find other ways to keep themselves entertained. The donation will change my students lives because if they are able to understand, they will see success. Success and achievement will boost their self esteem.
