I work with a very diverse group of second graders. All come to school with great assists to offer. Our days are full of active learning. Throughout the school year I hope my students grow academically as well as gain social emotional skills to tackle everyday life.
Second graders are amazing students.
Second grade is a very impressionable year. My students are willing to take risks in the classroom that lead to academic growth. I believe this is the year students can really develop a love for learning. My classroom is full of unique personalities that can sometimes cause disagreements and frustrations. These situations are used to teach social and emotional skills.
I work in a school that celebrates differences and embraces all students. We all come to school for a common purpose... Our students. We work very hard to provide the best learning environments. Teacher are always collaborating to best meet the needs of our students.
My Project
It is my hope to provide students the opportunity to engage in learning. In order for me to achieve this I need to provide a place that fosters engaged learning. One of our major focuses this year is on literacy. I would like to provide students a place were they can fall in love with reading. A love for reading needs to be fostered at a young age. By providing my students with a space where they can read and write comfortably, I hope to provide them with a love for literacy. This is why I am asking for a carpet and bean bag chairs. These items will help me create the learning environment I am looking for in my room. The white boards will provide engaging learning experiences in a variety of content and actives. White boards can be used as an engagement tool. We know that when students are actively engaged, learning increases.
As educators we are very lucky to share the excitement of learning with children.
We get the amazing opportunity to experience their growth. We get the privilege of helping them achieve their goals. The materials I am asking for will make a huge difference in my student's world. Providing students a space to fall in love with literacy, will be a life long skill. These are skills that are needed to be successful in life. The whiteboards will provide an interactive learning experience.
