Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

Do you remember the first time you fell in love with reading and you just couldn't put that book down? This year, my goal is for each and every student to fall in love with reading!

We are a Title 1 School, serving approximately 400 high school age students.

Our mission is to prepare our students for careers and college. Many of our students will be the first in their families to attend college. Our students have limited literature available to them. Our students are hungry for knowledge and would love the opportunity to increase their learning and reading abilities!

My Project

Our students are excited about reading and take ownership in their learning. The requested books would provide them a variety of reading materials, a wide selection of genres, a range of reading levels, and up to date materials. However, our current collection is inadequate to meet our students' needs. I am confident that our students would take full advantage of the requested books.

The library is the heart of our school.

Students come here daily to study, read quietly, and work collaboratively. In order to properly prepare our students for college, increase their reading abilities, and (above all) instill a love of reading in our students, we simply need more books!
