My students need an iPad mini, screen protector and case to use during our daily 5 technology centers to help with reading skills.

My Students

Students are engaged throughout the day in reading, writing, centers and student driven learning. Students need to be fluent readers by the end of the year. "The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you'll go." Theodore Lesieg

My students are first graders around the age of 5/7.

They are eager to learn and get very excited when they learn to read. Our school promotes reading and each year we foster a family reading night. Our classrooms are stocked with rich literature for students to use.

My Project

Technology is very exciting for young minds. My district adopted "Daily 5" Students rotate through 5 self driven centers to help students foster their own learning. Technology offers so programs for reading and comprehension. Students would be able to use an iPad for phonic games, listen to reading, reading along with online books and much much more. Students can also use an iPad with apps for math games and help with math fact fluency. Students should be able to use the current technology in the classroom as one strategy to help them learn.

My district is very limited with current technology.

I have 3 computers in my classroom for 24 students. That's as far as it go for technology in my room. No smart boards no iPads. By having an iPad in the class all the students can take turns using the iPad in reading and math centers. I can differentiate apps for each student to help them at their level. I believe this will make a huge difference for my students.
