Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
A typical day in my classroom is full of energy, exploration, and curiosity. My kids are constantly inquiring about new things, and are always looking for resources to explore more!
My students want and deserve opportunities to explore and learn in creative ways.
They are inquisitive kids full of potential. The community can't give them the resources and opportunities they need to succeed and experience the world. The kids at my school crave the chance to use technology and, without a computer lab, I want to give it to them as much as possible.
My Project
My students will use the iPad minis to research and create iMovies and final products that show pride in learning, particularly around our two overarching expedition projects about the Solar System and Native Americans in Colorado. Students will also use the iPad minis to work with IXL, our school's online math practice program. Students can see their success and progress while working on math skills. This is vital for all students, particularly the majority who don't have computer and internet at home.
Receiving and working with these iPad minis will bring equity to my students.
They want the same opportunities as kids in wealthy communities where kids have personal laptops and iPads, and I want to give them those opportunities to explore the world around them.
