Our students were learning about different homes. We came across a cabin. One child raised his hand and said, "That's like in the Three Little Pigs." Unfortunately, he and only a few others knew the story. Classic fairy tales are stories that all children should know, especially in Pre-K.
Our kids are young, ambitious, and curious but there's darkness lurking about that's much too serious.
Pre-K is a time to explore and play, to imagine and create until the end of the day. But the trouble that's looming seems to be blooming. Academic rigor! Academic rigor! They're telling us to grow up much much quicker.
They want to prepare us to be college ready, we want to go to college but at a pace that's steady. Our parents can't help us with the troubles that are lurking.
It's not their fault! They're too busy working! It's up to you to help us keep our childhood we're about to lose, you wonderful people, the people of Donors Choose!
My Project
Fairy tale stories and toys are needed in that early age as it coincides with their imaginative play. Fairy tales will give my students more ideas and hopefully lead to imaginative and creative play. With their family background, fairy tales aren't introduced enough at home so it's up to the school to introduce the fantasy world of fairies, talking bears, princesses, and much much more! The focus of education shouldn't be to pass a test but to develop a well rounded child with a different way of thinking and to think creatively. I believe the fairy tales have a lot of potential to inspire creativity and allow students to tap into their imagination. Creativity and imagination are two things that are often pushed aside as students grow up because they aren't needed in a standardized testing society. My hope is that the new puppets will help students use their imagination and help spark a new creative way of thinking.
Please don't allow the fairy tale to end before it began!
Our kids need the collection of fairy tale stories and puppets. If you think about those who are responsible for changing the world, they all had a different way of thinking. That different way of thinking needs to be fostered at an early age. Fairy tales are very important for early childhood as it helps students explore the fantasy world and foster their imagination and creativity. Allow them to help our world live happily ever after!
