My Students

What visuals do to enhance learning! Students will have their US history and natural science lessons brought to life by watching videos. It is like taking a field trip without leaving the classroom. With a strong push for anti-bullying in our district, we can also use videos to take the place of role playing. Videos can add to what books bring to the classroom.

I service 424, K-5 students, 18 classroom teachers, and 20 adults whose passion is to assist students in their learning.

We have 45% of our population that qualify for free and reduced lunches. With a university community, our population has many ethnic groups represented. The school is part of a small city in the middle of corn and soybean fields.

My Project

Videos and books that support/supplement/enhance learning beyond what the district provides broadens teachers' and students' appreciation for content. The books and anti-bullying videos requested from Donors Choose are those requested by the teachers and students, hence, they are active participants in the learning process. They know what these can bring to their learning.

Over and over again, students let me know how visuals are better than words.

Videos on science and social studies are a much better way for many students to learn concepts. Books on anti-bullying are more effective than a lecture on why certain behaviors are not appropriate.
