This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our class is a unique blending of Advanced Placement Chemistry and Physics Laboratories. We do an average of 50 to 60 experiments each year.

We are a fairly small urban school in a very large district.

We are over 60% minority enrollment, and over 50% free or reduced lunch. Our students are very advanced, and we have a 100% graduation rate. Our students are very motivated, and many will be the first in their families to advance to a University. We specialize in Math, Science, and Engineering.

My Project

Our special advanced laboratory class makes extensive use of technology for the collection and analysis of data. We will use the new webcams to replace our older, lower resolution ones to collect data in our experiments. These include studying the trajectory of a small ball, and the motion of objects to study conservation of momentum and conservation of energy, among others.

As we are a part of a large urban district, funding is limited.

We will use the new equipment to replace older, failing equipment that no longer meets our needs. This will make it easier for our students to collect and evaluate their data for several different experiments.
