Do you remember your first pet? If you never had one, do you ever recall begging your parents for one? Pets are great for the classroom. They allow for students to learn how to care for living things as well as teach them about the needs of animals. Our class' bearded dragon is beloved by all.
Welcome to Pre-K!
Come on in! We ask that you be respectful to those around you as well as the materials you play with. Language isn't an issue here; we're confident you'll pick it up quickly. We learn through play and exploration so you're required to bring your curiosity and imagination. Have fun! Our kids are young, ambitious, and curious, but there's darkness lurking about that's much too serious. Pre-K is a time to explore and play, to imagine and create until the end of the day. But the trouble that's looming seems to be blooming. Academic rigor! Academic rigor! They're telling us to grow up much, much quicker. They want to prepare us to be college ready. We want to go to college, but at a pace that's steady. Our parents can't help us out of the troubles that's lurking; it's not their fault! They're too busy working! It's up to you to help us keep our childhood we're about to lose, you wonderful people, the people of DonorsChoose!
My Project
Our class bearded dragon, Bossk, was brought into be used to spark student interest in caring for a living thing. Our students learned first hand the different needs of different animals just like how we have different needs. In pre-k, a lot of instructions occur spontaneously based on student interest. Our bearded dragon sparked interest immediately since it was an animal we do not see everyday. Students began to question the environment of these fascinating reptiles as well as their diet.
Our bearded dragon, Bossk, has been beloved by three years of pre-k students. Just like our students, Bossk has grown significantly over the past three years and needs a bigger home. The materials requested will give Bossk a happier environment to live in and continue to engage the curiosity of our students.
Bossk's fish sibling also needs a new aquarium home. The new homes will keep our class pets happy like our students!
The set up requirements of the bearded dragon will show students how different animals require different kinds of care and it will lead into the reasons why they are required.
Bossk has outgrown his current home and needs a bigger living space to grow. Our children are fascinated by him and he's part of our class. Just like our students, we want the best for our class pets. Your support will keep our Bearded Dragon and fish happy as well as our kids!
