Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Do you remember what it was like to be a fourth grader desiring to know more about what was happening within your world?
My students are an amazing group of hardworking fourth grade learners, predominantly Hispanic, living in a high-poverty area of San Jose.
Most of my students come from Spanish-speaking homes where English is a second language and resources are limited.
My Project
I'm asking for a year subscription to TIME for Kids that will engage my students' interest and knowledge of current events while building vocabulary and increasing their understanding of the world around them.
Fourth graders are transitioning from fiction to non-fiction texts and, TIME for Kids includes non-fiction text with additional support in writing. My students need 31 subscriptions to TIME for Kids to use during daily workshop time.
Your support will help my students experience quality non-fiction while keeping them informed about the world around them. Additionally, TIME for Kids will help develop literature reading skills, increased text complexity, and a vested interest in the happenings of their world.
With a subscription to TIME for Kids, my students will have an opportunity to read quality non-fiction while increasing their literacy and understanding of their world.
Additionally, students will be able to increase their background knowledge with more facts making them more learned scholars!
Edition 3 - 4 with Around the World (Grades 3 and 4) TIME For Kids is a weekly classroom newsmagazine that motivates kids to read. Issues cover a wide range of real-world topics and themes kids love to learn about and it s the best nonfiction text you ll find! Edition 3 - 4 builds non-fiction literacy skills and helps students better understand their world. In addition to receiving Edition 3 - 4, subscribers will receive TFK Around the World.
