My Students

Nancy Kassebaum once said, “There can be infinite uses of the computer and of new age technology, but if teachers themselves are not able to bring it into the classroom and make it work, then it fails.”

We are a family of 24 amazing 3rd graders in Billings, Montana.

We are a close group here at our school, and I had the opportunity to travel with them from 2nd grade to 3rd grade. So, when I say we are family, it is because we truly are. We have had the support of the community to expand our ever-growing school, but our technology has stayed in the past.

My Project

We use Daily 5 in our classroom, the computers play an intricate part of the centers the students are assigned. Lately though, our very outdated computers are not able to keep up with our needs and only work when they want to. With these five updated computers, students will be able to learn important typing skills, complete engaging research projects, listen to their reading, engage in math games, and learn how to safely navigate and explore new technology.

In our society now, children know how to work tablets better than most adults.

The funny thing is though, if you put them in front of a desktop with a mouse and keyboard, they will struggle. By having the materials we need, students will have the opportunity to be more successful and resourceful in their learning and skill sets.
