Mrs. Evans from Ferguson MO is requesting technology through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
My students need chromebooks to do research projects, online lessons and activities, and to practice smarter balanced assessments we will take in the spring.

By the time my students graduate from high school, they must be career and/or college ready. Technology is a huge piece of this readiness. Being able to have more computers will open up a whole new world of learning for them!
My students are curious learners.
When I give them meaningful hands on learning activities, they dive in ready to learn! In our building technology is available- but we don't have a class set of anything. Often when I incorporate technology into my students' learning we have to share with several other teachers and we are not able to fully complete what we need to with what we have. In order to keep my avid learners engaged, more technology is needed!
In fifth grade we have many opportunities to utilize technology. We have implemented STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) into our curriculum. Our Writer's Workshop framework has our students researching nonfiction topics and writing opinion based essays. The Social Studies curriculum requires students to research and create projects in various media forms on explorers and other leaders in US History. We are also working very hard to prepare our students for the Smarter Balance assessments in the spring. Students will be taking standardized tests in ELA and Math on the computer. To say we are in need of more Chromebooks for these kiddos is an understatement!
Being able to help my students learn how to effectively use technology is a huge goal that I have for them.
If I can have the resources necessary to help build their computer literacy and critical thinking skills, I will feel that I have met this goal!
