A typical day in my classroom is very busy! It seems there is never enough time to get everything done. I try hard to help all my students grow. I feel technology gives them an excellent way to do this while also being able to be creative.
Our school is a large K-5 Elementary school and is considered to be a high poverty school.
Of our six hundred students around 75% qualify for free and reduced cost lunch. Our school has many programs such as the Back Pack Program that provides food for needy students on the weekends. We also have free breakfast for all students. Our school is a place where students not only receive a education but come so that they feel safe and loved. I attended this school myself when I was small and it holds a special place in my heart!
My Project
I am requesting five iPad computers and five cases (to keep them safe) so I can be support "Empowering Students Through Art.” One of our Writing Common Core Standards is that students will conduct short research projects. This project naturally integrates art and technology. In second grade one of our projects is investigating weather and weather tools. My students will work with partners and individually researching the weather tools and facts about weather and then using Seesaw, an App that they can put their research into. After they put their information in they draw illustrations about what they have written. This is an App we use for a lot of things. This is just one way I plan to use these for Art to teach other subjects.
Your donation will greatly benefit my students by giving them a more interactive experience in their learning of art through the use of technology.
It will also allow them to explore their creative side and discover new ways to show what they are learning in the classroom.
