Mrs. Jackson from Glenolden PA is requesting technology through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
My students need an iPad and a case to use during group instruction for counseling lessons and using career exploration websites and applications.

I am a school counselor for grades 1-8. I work with students individually and in small groups daily. I also conduct classroom lessons, or as I like to call "Counseling Performances," for all grades at different times during the school year. I also meet with parents and support them in various ways.
The population at my school is diverse and they reside in low income areas.
A majority of our students receive free/reduced lunch. They are all amazing but many of them could use help identifying career goals and making plans to achieve these goals.
I imagine meeting individually or in a small groups with students about their interests and goals. We could use an iPad with a protective case as a resource for career inventories, watching videos about careers, and researching different career clusters. Also, students can research different schools and technology programs that may interest them for their post-secondary education plans. My students need to learn that the world is filled with wonderful opportunities. With the iPad and case, they will be able to expand their exploration and find direction for their high school careers and beyond. Career counseling is an endeavor for all grade levels. The iPad will help students identify their interests and career goals. The world will open up to them and my hope is that it is the start of many conversations with them and their families about their career goals and aspirations.
Donations toward my project will allow my students get an early start on identifying careers that interest them and also to further explore the path to obtaining their goal, such as post-secondary schools and training.
Many of the students will be first generation college students and need help beginning this journey to building their future.
