A typical day in my classroom consists of laughter, encouragement, frustration and persistence. You see, I am a dyslexia teacher. I teach the students whose one true desire is to become independent readers and writers. My greatest joy is to see my students fall in love with books, paper and digital!
My dyslexic students are geniuses that process language in a different way.
They are out of the box thinkers with persistence towards their academic goals. We are in a small town on the verge of tremendous growth. Our school is able to provide a small amount of technology to each of these growing classrooms. I would like to provide a larger amount of technology to my students who learn through the dyslexic mind.
My Project
We need two Toshiba 13 Chromebooks for their passion in literacy! I would like my students to have their own Chromebook to utilize the built in applications and extensions. These digital tools will not only help my students read to write, but also write to read. Chromebooks will also give them a chance to use audio books to model fluent reading. My dyslexic students will use the Chromebooks to grow in and love literacy.
My dyslexic students process language in a different way, and the Chromebook will provide a level playing field for them to enjoy and understand language and literacy.
My students will utilize built in applications and extensions that the Chromebook offers to listen, read and write, all while growing in their passion for literacy.
